Dassault Systèmes announced today that the Swedish car manufacturer Polestar has chosen their application CATIA as the platform for the design and development of all its future electric car models. The use of Dassault Systèmes’ solution will help Polestar increase the speed of its model development while ensuring its sustainable design.

Through the CATIA application, Polestar receives a solution specially developed for mechanical design that makes it possible to create, test, and shape all types of surfaces to achieve the company’s sustainability requirements. Polestar will be able to develop the models faster, test them in a virtual environment that reduces the need for physical prototypes, and ensure that the vehicles get the quality and features that customers want.

“With our high ambitions to develop the electric cars of the future, we see the need to work with the best-in-class design solutions,” says Hans Persson, R&D manager at Polestar. “Increasing the focus on sustainability, efficiency, battery development, and similar important areas is the only way to achieve a sustainable car industry”.

“A majority of electrification start-ups choose our solution where designers and engineers can collaborate on ambitious, forward-looking products and services,” said John Kitchingman, head of Dassault Systèmes at EuroNorth.“Polestar is a true pioneer in the electric vehicle industry whose values align well with ours when it comes to creating a sustainable world that creates balance between products, the environment and us humans. We are proud to continue to shape this collaboration and look forward to seeing Polestar’s future sustainable vehicles, designed with Dassault Systèmes technology, on our roads.

Launched in 2017, Polestar stands out as a sustainable brand in the automotive industry, a sector that has come under increased scrutiny for its environmental credentials in recent years. Polestar challenged the automotive industry in 2020 by releasing the Polestar Precept – a vehicle study designed to showcase the brand’s vision of sustainability, digital technology and design. The Polestar Precept is to be put into production in the future, integrating new digital technology and the use of innovative, sustainable materials, on the inside as well as on the outside.
