We’re one step closer to intelligent mobility

Back in October, we shared news with you about the formation of Software République and its inaugural contest focused on helping to shape the future of mobility in Europe. You can read all the details here, but in a nutshell, Atos, Dassault Systèmes, Orange, Renault Group, STMicroelectronics and Thales formed this group earlier in 2021 to shape a new European ecosystem for innovation in intelligent mobility including running a series of open innovation challenges.

We were thrilled to have 150 applications for the first challenge, Mobility 4.0, with the mission to encourage start ups to drive innovation for sustainable mobility. That pool was narrowed down to 10; you can watch videos from each of them here. This group was given access to the data and experts in the six founding companies to create prototypes of their ideas.

On December 16, with the participation of Cédric O, French Minister of State for Digital, the jury announced three winners. Below you’ll find a short overview of their ideas, along with them explaining their innovation in their own words.

1st prize: Wattpark allows owners of charging stations to share and rent their services as well as help drivers locate a charging station, connect to it and easily pay, lowering the stress that can result from driving an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle.

2nd prize: Geoflex enhances GPS/GNSS applications to achieve secure and accurate positioning on land, at sea and in the air through universal hyper-geolocation to trains, cars, ships, drones and smartphones, as well as for last mile delivery in smart cities.

3rd prize: Vianova proposes to build a road safety algorithm that could benefit both cities and motorists to identify and be informed in real time of dangerous incidents on the roads or areas with high accident risks.

The three projects have been invited to join the Software République incubator to bring their project to fruition with the support, expertise and resources of the six founding organization. We can’t wait to follow their progress!
