COPRO Technology innovates composite parts production

Carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP), particularly used in the sports, aerospace and the automotive industries are becoming increasingly popular for industrial machinery, engineering and construction products to create light, but strong and stiff structures for their products.

Manufacturing the composite profiles requires a manual or discontinuous robot-based preforming technique-both very cost-intensive.  That was until the German start-up COPRO Technology developed a new way to adapt the roll forming process used in the metallic industry to CFRPs. They created an efficient and cost-effective production of preform profiles for the infusion or injection molding process enabling the process production of complex 3D preforms.

Improving collaboration for all stakeholders

A platform solution was the obvious choice for COPRO Technology to connect all project stakeholders seamlessly at their two sites for design and machine assembly. At the same time, they faced challenges that are typical for a startup: little capital to invest, the need to grow and evolve technology concurrently, as well as no desire to invest nor manage an IT environment.

Using the 3DEXPERIENCE© platform on the cloud, COPRO Technology tackled those challenges. The platform is perfectly suited to managing large assemblies and keeping track of a machine’s design history for reuse in new projects. With the design geometry, the dimensions as well as project management data all on one platform, concurrent engineering is a reality, which helps avoid communication issues. Customizing machines to specification can be prohibitive in terms of costs. The modular approach provided within 3DEXPERIENCE platform is a more cost-effective and less time-consuming method.

3DEXPERIENCE on the cloud grows with you

As a startup, COPRO Technology benefits from a high end solution up to now reserved only for large corporations using Dassault Systèmes on the cloud.  The flexibility allows customers to add new applications or users as the company grows, so no need to invest in IT and there are no concerns about data security. Instead, users have immediate deployment and data is available 24/7.
