June 28, 2021—Dassault Systemes announced AAKRUTI 2021, a nationwide product design contest for engineering, design and technology students in India. AAKRUTI 2021 is aimed to give students an opportunity from all over India to come up with innovative solutions to provide answers to longstanding problems and address the challenges of tomorrow – both technological and social. The challenge involves three stages including preparing product design, design concept submission and final product design submission, during which participants should create a project virtually through online collaboration enabled by the cloud-based 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
AAKRUTI 2021 has four distinct topics that allow students the freedom to innovate:
- Theme 1: “Re-engineer Existing Plastic product with Biodegradable material” : Pick any daily-use product mainly made of non-compostable plastic. Re-engineer that product by replacing it with compostable material / recyclable material, without losing the functional expectation of the product. Propose a solution to how this new product can be mass-produced.
- Theme 2: “Affordable product for Healthcare” : Develop a product that addresses a real clinical need. It should be affordable, energy-efficient, easy to handle, flexible. Do more with less. Product design should be innovative and will be a great boon to patient/medical practitioners and users.
- Theme 3: “Scientific Toy Design for Kids” : Design toys that include STEM learning-basedones, specifically designed to either introduce or reinforce a child’s knowledge in scientific, technology and engineering concepts. Teaching multiple concepts from these disciplines and triggering curiosity in them through innovatively designed toys is preferred.
- Theme 4: “Water for Life” : Innovate and create the solutions which will help to minimize the use of water in households, industries, agriculture and public places. Design innovative products/devices to conserve water, help increase groundwater levels, avoid water losses, avoid water contamination, and clean water reservoirs.
All student teams must register for the contest online by July 15, 2021, at 3DEXPERIENCE EDU website- https://edu.3ds.com/en/challenges/aakruti2021. Following the registration and acceptance of their project summary, a student team will get access to Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform and SOLIDWORKS applications to bring their ideas to life. The top 10 teams across India, based on innovations in design, feasibility and application of the project, will be selected for the AAKRUTI 2021final to be held in November 2021. The winners will have the opportunity to win cash prizes worth INR 300,000, a free SOLIDWORKS student license, vouchers and be hired in Dassault Systèmes in India and more.
With its legacy of more than a decade as an innovation-driven contest,AAKRUTI aims to shape student’s imagination and bring their innovative designs to life using Dassault Systèmes’ product design applications. In the 10th edition of AAKRUTIin 2020, 2,820 students at 385 colleges in 25 states of India participated. Overcoming the challenges induced by the pandemic, the participants were able to work seamlessly with respective team members virtually on the cloud by leveraging SOLIDWORKS applications powered by the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
