A pair of jeans that scents raspberry

Few years ago, there were projects about scented clothes that change with your mood

The Canadian company Naked & Famous Denim has now manufactured and developed a model of jeans with built in “scratch-n-sniff” technology.

Naked & Famous Denim is known to use only good quality and rare denim fabrics from Japan. The prestigious mill in Japan, from which they import all their fabric uses a combination of old school and modern methods and practices, and is committed to producing only the best (and most expensive) denim in the world. So much culture and history is poured into the fabric so that it can be appreciated by the denim purist.

The brand that advertises to keep all their jeans raw and simple (no washes, no embroidery, no gimmicks “ just the best fabric in the world combined with modern fits”) just launched an extreme fantasy denim.

This project bridges the disciplines of fashion, analytical chemistry, nanotechnology and perfumery

At the first glance, nothing to be notices but a fashionable made in Canada basic piece of denim. But if you scratch the fabric, the jeans will smell like raspberry candy. The effect is achieved by coating the fabric with a special product that contains perfumed microcapsules. It is applied and then baked into the denim. As you scratch the garment, the scent is released. The coating will last up to 5 washes depending on how you care for jeans and how often you wear them.

The story doesn’t tell if the designer was an avid collector of 80’s “scratch and sniff” stickers neither if the future clothes could use engineered scents to finally change our moods or enhance our memory.

Do you think scented clothes have a future in the fashion industry?
