Translate your body movements into music

Designed for musicians and fans of technology the Machina Midi Controller Jacket can translate your body movements into actual music. Called Machina’s “MJ v1.0,” the jacket insn’t just a fancy and nice waterproof outerwear, but a sophisticated wearable technology piece. The jacket is for now actually so complex that it be only be made by hand by a master tailor.

Not just an outerwear, it’s also a sophisticated piece of equipment

The jacket combines a Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) and comes with four flexible motion sensors that can detect fingers position and operate multiple digital music instruments, computers, and other devices simultaneously. It also features an accelerometer that can detect arm’s acceleration, a joystick and four push buttons. “The sensors are invisible except for placeholders,” says Machina. “We want integration to be complete, and that’s why we’re working so hard in making sure that, while the sensors are there, they do not affect the look and feel of the jacket. The jacket looks like a regular jacket, and it can be worn under any condition.”

Designed to be hackable

The jacket is also a platform that can be programmed for additional functionalities. The Mexico-based technology firm plans to release a mobile application for iOS and Android so users can interact with the MJ v1.0 in a simple way. All of the company’s code will be completely open-sourced. Besides, Machina is working on a “hackstore” with libraries that will allow users to upload their own presets and to customize the product very easily. Ultimately, the jacket will allow its owner do whatever he want, from engineering beats, mixing video, or even playing videogames. Do you think this kind of garment could be the future of making music?

both equally educative and engaging, and undeniably, you’ve hit the nail in the head.
The problem is something which too few folks are speaking intelligently about.

I am just thrilled which i stumbled across this during my search for something regarding this.
