Arrivederci Milan!

And with that we kicked off the second and final day of our annual conference, Design in the Age of Experience.  (Missed the day 1 recap?  Catch up here.)

Day 2 was full of inspiring and thought-provoking speakers sharing their position about the future of Design.  Let’s jump right in and discover today’s events through our Twitter recap.

First up was Anilore Banon, a sculptor who achieved a giant leap for art: designing a living structure on the Moon.  Her VITAE project seeks to unite people of all generations across all seven continents hosted in a unique lunar environment.

Following Banon were sessions focused on each of our 4 event themes.

On our first theme, Designing Experiences  only by reducing the distance between real and virtual to zero can you to build and experience the future – our Vice President of Design, Anne Asensio hosted a discussion with architect Toshiko Mori, Istituto Europeo Di Design’s Riccardo Balbo and Nikon’s Hiroshi Kobayashi.

On our theme of Design is Tribes – Design is collaborative and social – we were pleased to have Klaus Busse of Fiat Chrylser Automobiles, James Yulon of Luxgen Motor and Fabio Filippini, car designer and former Chief Creative Officer of Pinifarina.

To dig more into our theme of Design is Science-Driven – inspired by the beauty of nature – the audience heard from Martin Tamke from the Centre for Information Technology and Architecture and Toshiki Meijo of Kengo Kuma & Associates.

On Design is the Business Plan – Design allows you to reinvent the way you interact with your customers – Javier Glatt of CADMAKERS and Bob Neville of New Balance shared their views.

We also reveled the results of our 24-hour hackathon.  Fueled by smart coding and intense creativity – and that famous Italian food, pizza – 6 teams battled to come up with a winning architectural design!  Congratulations to all who participated, and especially to our winning team, MoCo.

Finally, attendees were again encouraged to participate in hands-on learning in the 3DEXPERIENCE playground.

Thanks to all who attended – we look forward to seeing you again next year and to welcoming more people who want to shape the future of Design!
